Remember there's nothing British about the bigoted British National Party.

The extremists wrap themselves in the Union Jack and then insult our forces by shamelessly exploiting injured soldiers.

SAS veteran Andy McNab's condemned the underhand BNP. So has Falklands hero Simon Weston. And Iraq war commander Tim Collins.

In fact it's impossible to find anyone in our brave armed services with a good word for the Far Right fanatics.

I was talking recently to that fantastic local young band the Moobs.

They're playing at the Hope not Hate anti-BNP festival on Saturday in Trimdon Labour Club which is being fronted by music legend Fergal Sharkey.

Times journalist proved his party hadn't gone "soft" appalled law-abiding Tyneside families.

Proud Geordies who fought fascism in the Second World War must never be conned by an organisation that detests our country's values of decency, fairness and tolerance.

The spirit of the Jarrow March lives on in the Moobs and all those in clubs, community groups, churches and trade unions who believe in playing by the rules and being a good neighbour.

There has been sudden BNP activity in Jarrow recently because of the fothcoming bye-election brought about by the sad death of Labour stalwart Barrie Scorer. I know many people I have spoken to will not be conned by the BNP.

The Jarrow Marchers would turn in their graves if the party of the boot and the fist gained so much as a toe-hold in our beloved South Tyneside.

Geordies are popular the world over, famous for our generosity and love of a good laugh.

Let's keep it that way and vote for Hope not Hate.
