The outcome is a Government pledge of a three-year £20m support package for thalidomide survivors enabling them to afford adaptations they so desperately need to avoid further damage to their bodies.

I am a big supporter of the work of the Thalidomide Trust and delighted with the Government’s response to the national campaigner.

I welcome the Government’s support to meet the needs of thalidomide survivors and to help them cope with their increasing disability and frailty.

I fully support the financial package provided by the Government and I am delighted that this extra money as now been pledged which is great news for those who are affected by this terrible condition.

I would also like to pay tribute to the work of the Thalidomide Trust and its officers, and members of the National Advisory Council who have worked tirelessly to champion the cause of Thalidomide survivors, and whose contribution in supporting them and their families cannot be overstated.
