Statement to the constituency It takes a long time to undo the damage caused by 18 years of Tory government but we are well on our way. Since being elected NHS spending has doubled and will triple in the next few years. We have the biggest ever hospital building programme and thousands more doctors and nurses. In education we are doubling the funding for each pupil and will either rebuild or refurbish schools. In South Tyneside we have seen crime reducing over and above the average but we will still bring about more neighbourhood policing on our estates. All of this can only happen by a government who will invest in its people. As a local person who has lived in this area all of my life I know the importance of Public investment. It is the only way to improve services, create jobs and strengthen communities. Labour will continue to fight for fairness for the many and not just the privileged. |
