Ministerial visit to A & P Tyne |
I was delighted that Government Defence Minister Quentin Davis accepted my invitation to visit Hebburn shipyard A&P Tyne. The visit came shortly after I took a delegation of MPs and the Regional Secretary of the GMB union Tommy Brennan to meet the Minister in London to discuss the multi-million pound aircraft carriers project.

25th Anniversary of Miners Strike |
As we have been reminded over the past week it is now 25 years since the start of the Miners Strike. I remember it well because it was that event more than any other which politicised me so much that I entered politics to fight against the Tories. Anyone old enough to remember will not forget the horror of the events which led to the closure and destruction of the British Mining Industry.
